All sorts of skills on show at DVC

FOURTEEN- and 15-year-olds from Mexborough School enjoyed a range of activities at Dearne Valley College's first Skills Roadshow.

Fifty pupils were invited to the Wath-based campus to sample vocational activities in the college's sports hall.

The pupils took part in three 45-minute workshops in subject areas such as brickwork, joinery, sport, public services, beauty, catering and hospitality.

College information officer Mark Hepworth said: "The DVC Skills Roadshow is designed to be delivered at DVC or on local feeder schools premises and involves a range of 45-minute workshops which are interactive, practical and hands on for Years 9 to 11."

Mexborough assistant head Phil Hallford said: "I would like to thank DVC for providing our Year 10 vocational students with an enjoyable and informative event."

Dearne Valley College are now accepting applications for courses starting in September.

An open evening will take place at the Manvers Campus on January 20.
