SHINE a light - there’s never been anything like it.
Visitors to Weston Park Museum in Sheffield are used to enjoying the city’s collections on show inside the building, but at the weekend they had a chance to see Sheffield’s treasures in a completely new light.
On Saturday night a host of objects and artworks were beamed on to the exterior of Weston Park for lightTEST, a massive outdoor projection created by externalGALLERIES.
The event was the latest outdoor project created by audio visual innovators externalGALLERIES using museum archives and Visitors stood agog at the installation.
Having previously produced impressive outdoor projections at Bolsover Castle and Staveley Hall, externalGALLERIES teamed up with Museums Sheffield’s curators to test drive new hardware and software they’ve been developing.
The company is made up of Sheffield-based composer David Harper and artists Andy McKeown and Peter Walker.
They produce large scale sound and light projection events around the UK.
Because of the size of their work the team needed a huge building on which to test their latest technology.
And Weston Park Museum on Western Bank made the perfect canvas.
