Father Christmas made his final stop before a busy night on Christmas Eve with a visit to Hillsborough Leisure Centre.

Families had the opportunity for a swim in the centre’s leisure pool before a last minute visit to Santa’s grotto for final present instructions.

And the morning was finished off with a traditional English breakfast before trying out table tennis, trampolining and a go on the bouncy castle.

Matthew Fidler, aged nine, and sister Elizabeth from Broom, Rotherham, were among hundreds of children who met Santa.

Matthew said: “I had a few things I’d forgotten to put in my letter to Father Christmas so I was really pleased I saw him.”

Elizabeth said: “I’ve asked Santa for an Olaf teddy from Frozen. I hope he brings me one!”

Christmas Eve is usually a quiet day at Hillsborough Leisure Centre but staff estimate more than 300 people will have visited today because of Santa’s visit.
