WESTON Park Museum in Sheffield has been shortlisted for a £10,000 award recognising its educational initiatives.

The inaugural Clore Award for Museum Learning celebrates the quality, impact and innovation that museums and galleries use to provide learning activities and facilities.

Weston Park, run by Museums Sheffield, is one of five venues to have been shortlisted for the award, out of a long list of 10.

The museum has been nominated for its programme ‘With Sheba and Arwa’ - which focused on two great Yemeni queens and explored modern-day experiences of British Arabic women.

Kim Streets, director of learning at Museums Sheffield, said: “We’re delighted to have been shortlisted. Working with Sheffield’s communities and the city’s young people to celebrate these truly inspirational Arabic women has been a fantastic experience.

“The project is a testament to the hard work, dedication and creativity of everyone involved and it’s wonderful to see it recognised in this way.”

The winners will be announced on June 15 at a ceremony at Tate Britain in London.
