Families are gearing up to celebrate the inaugural Harry Potter Book Night at libraries across South Yorkshire.

Fans of JK Rowling are being encouraged to pick up their wands as Barnsley libraries hold the first Harry Potter Book Night on Thursday.

Central library will be transformed into the Hogwarts school, giving readers the chance to create their own coat of arms for display.

There will also be magical themed quizzes at both the Mapplewell and Hoyland libraries from 3.30pm to 5.30pm.

Events will also take place in libraries across Rotherham.

Spaces are limited so booking is recommended.

Anyone interested in taking part in the fun is asked to contact their local library for more details.
