CAMPAIGNERS who have been fighting the closure of two Doncaster Libraries have lost their legal challenge against Doncaster Council.

A judge at Leeds Combined Court backed the council’s case that the full council did not have the power to give directons to Mayor Peter Davies and his cabinet.

Doncaster resident Carol Buck had taken the case to court through Public Interest Lawyers, and had made a case that the mayor should have acted on a full council vote to put nearly £400,000 into keeping Carcroft and Denaby libraries open.
