MUSIC legends Paul Carrack and Courtney Pine headline four nights of blooming wonderful music at Sheffield’s Music In The Gardens – and The Star has tickets to be won, writes digital editor Graham Walker.
Tickets cost just £8 to £14 in advance – but will cost more on the gates – for this year’s concerts at the Botanical Gardens, from Wednesday to Saturday, June 29 to July 2.
Rotary clubs of Sheffield, Vulcan, Hallam and Wortley have booked jazz star Pine and local great Carrack alongside old favourites The Sheffield Philharmonic Orchestra and the Keith Peters Big Band.
The concerts raise thousands of pounds for charities and this year get under way with Big Band Night, featuring master of swing Keith Peters.
Former Squeeze and Mike and The Mechanics frontman turned solo star Carrack performs the following night.
With more than 40 years in the music business, he has had great success with hits including Living Years, and playing as a session musician with many other performers such as Roger Waters, The Pretenders and The Smiths, Ringo Starr, BB King, Eric Clapton and Elton John.
Friday night is headlined by Pine appearing as part of his first national tour in which he is promoting his new album Europa.
And Music In The Gardens closes with The Sheffield Philharmonic.
Sheffield Children’s Hospital, Weston Park Hospital Cancer Charity, Help For Heroes and Shelterbox are the big four charities selected to benefit from the event.
Tickets are available at www.musicinthegardens.co.uk now priced £8 to £14 in advance and more on the gates.
