Temptation hitmaker Martyn Ware is tempting fans to a star-studded homecoming concert to celebrate his latest album with the British Electric Foundation, writes Graham Walker.

And we are celebrating with a competition music lovers won’t be able to resist.

The Star is backing his live BEF show with 100 tickets to be won, to see the starry line-up of household names he’s got to perform at Sheffield’s O2 Academy next Friday, October 4.

Joining Martyn will be his fellow Heaven 17 Sheffield bandmate and frontman Glenn Gregory, 1980s rock chick Kim Wild, Erasure’s Andy Bell, Scritti Politti’s Green Gartside and Propaganda synthpop icon Claudia Brücken.

Heaven 17’s principal female vocalist Billie Godfrey, Sheffield singer/songwriter David J Roch, singers Sarah Jane Morris, Bernice Scott and Kelly Barnes are also on the bill.

Martyn, aged 57, best known as a founding member of Human League and Heaven 17, is also the driving force behind the BEF and it’s latest release Music of Quality and Distinction Volume Three; Dark.

The album, featuring many of the stars coming to Sheffield, delivers dark versions of previously happy pop songs.
