Christmas is about to come early for one lucky Star family – we’ve got the last four entries to be won to the sold-out Meadowhall lights switch-on charity concert, writes Graham Walker.

All 15,000 entry wristbands have gone.

They were snapped up to see headliners Union J, The Vamps and Little Nix, plus a host of breaking bands.

Capital FM’s breakfast show presenters Hirsty, Danny and JoJo – stars of Hirsty’s Daily Dose – will compere the event, with lots of surprises on Wednesday, November 6, from 7pm to 9pm.

Proceeds from the concert will go to Meadowhall’s Charity of the Year, The Children’s Hospital Charity and Help a Capital Child.

But the only access now is to win your way in and we have the last family of four wristbands.

The Vamps

X Factor boys Union J – George Shelley, Josh Cuthbert, JJ Hamblett and Jaymi Hensley – finished fourth and have had top 10 singles, Carry You and Beautiful Life, with a self-titled debut album out this week.

YouTube sensations The Vamps are a British indie pop band formed who smashed the charts with Can We Dance.

Little Nikki, one of the hottest artists of the year, has opened shows for the likes of Justin Bieber.

Today Meadowhall bosses gave advice to fans who will be turning up for the concert, being held in the Orange Zone Car Park, near to the Oasis – gates open at 4.30pm and the show starts 7pm.

Bought entry wristbands must be collected from the mall between Friday, November 1 and Monday, November 4. Bring proof of age.

Alex Caley, Meadowhall Events Manager, saod: “We have a fabulous line up this year and are looking forward to welcoming everyone to the centre to celebrate the official start of Christmas!

“For those lucky enough to have secured a wristband for the Concert please remember to collect them between 1st and 4th November - and to bring proof of age to the event.

“All concert go-ers need to be over the age of 8 years, and all children between 8 – 13 years must be accompanied by an adult aged 18 and over.

“Gates will open at 4.30pm on the day, with the Concert starting at 7pm.

“Please make sure to set off in good time as the roads are sure to be very busy. Also judging by the weather this week please be prepared for rain and wrap up warm! We cannot allow umbrellas into the Concert – so coats, gloves and scarfs will be the order of the day! But don’t forget the Oasis Dining Quarter offers a selection of great food and drink from McDonalds to Café Rouge for those wanting a bite to eat before or after the event.

“It’s not the only item on the Christmas agenda at Meadowhall this year. Dream Toys, the annual event hosted at Meadowhall in conjunction with the Toy Retailers Association will unveil the 50 toys that will dominate Christmas this year. Selected by a panel of buyers from stores that included Selfridges, Hamley’s, The Entertainer, Argos, Toys R US, TK Maxx and Toymaster, the Dream Toys list is widely respected as the most accurate predictive list of the toys that will be in most demand this Christmas.

“So if you’re hunting for the ideal Christmas present for the kids make sure to drop by to see the selection next Wednesday.

“Santa will also be arriving at Meadowhall in a few weeks’ time bringing with him his Magical Kingdom standing 20 metres tall! Visitors can see Santa in his Kingdom from 14th November, following the Christmas parade – it’s a spectacle not to be missed with a lightshow of music and fireworks. Further details about bookings will be announced on the Meadowhall website next week.
