A legendary Sheffield band have launched their new album in the city with an intimate acoustic gig.

Reverend and the Makers played at HMV in the city centre to celebrate the release of their fifth studio album Mirrors.

Bassist Joe Carnall Jnr said: “There is more of a wider palette which people seem to be really enjoying. There’s a big mix of genres its not just the same B_PM,. it seems to have paid of it could have really backfired.”

Laura McClure added: All of us are doing lots of different vocals, its not just Jon, there’s lot of different features. It is harping back to the first album which is nice.”

The band played new songs to fans including new single Black Widow.

He said: “This album is about putting all the band members at the forefront and grasping that great musicians they all are.”

Despite having only just been released the album has already attracted some famous fans including Noel Gallagher who took to social media to give some positive feedback.

He said: “So I’m listening to Mirrors for the first time and I’m about 15 minutes in when it dawns on me that this is like something that sounds like nothing I’ve heard since the great concept albums of the ‘60s.”

The band said they were flattered by his comments.

Joe said: “That’s like if you are a footballer and Messi saying you’ve got a good left foot.”

Reverend and the Makers start a twelve-date tour and will play at the O2 Academy in Sheffield on November 14.
