Sing your art out at new gallery choir

Have your say

Creative youngsters can sing together - and write new music inspired by artwork - in a Sheffield gallery.

Site Gallery’s free programme invites children and teenagers aged from 11 to 18 to mix the two mediums.

Cassie Kill, the gallery’s programme manager, said: “This is a fantastic opportunity for young people to find out about contemporary art, make friends and explore new ideas.

“We are committed to involving young people at Site Gallery, and are extremely grateful to Paul Hamlyn Foundation, Youth Music and The University of Sheffield for funding our activity.”

The sessions run every Saturday afternoon at the gallery, on Brown Street in the city centre, from 2pm to 3.30pm.

Nick Cox, from the Sheffield band Screaming Maldini, leads the group.

Site Gallery also runs a group called Young Producers, open to 14 to 19-year-olds, for teenagers to produce their own artwork and learn creative skills. They will meet every Thursday evening from February 20.

Beginners are welcome to both groups.
