Sheffield singer chooses Kaiser Chief’s Ricky Wilson as mentor on The Voice

A Sheffield singer is celebrating after getting through to the next round of a television talent show.

Millions of people watched as Jade Hewitt, aged 27, from Richmond impressed the judges impressed the judges on The Voice..

Her performance Here For The Party, by American country music singer Gretchen Wilson, was enough to see judges Ricky Wilson and Rita Ora pick her.

Jade, who is also a Beyoncé tribute act, chose Ricky, the lead singer of the Kaiser Chiefs, as her mentor.

Jade said: “It has been absolutely manic. My phone is constantly going.

“The support has been brilliant, especially from Sheffield because I was born and brought up here and all my family still live here.

“I’ve also got some friends and family in Australia messaging me because they have watched it on You Tube.”

Jade said having two judges two of the show’s four judges pick her was more than she expected.

She said: “I didn’t expect any to be fair, but getting two was brilliant. I went with my gut instinct with Ricky. I always follow my gut instinct no matter what.

“The music I sing is very band orientated, which is similar to him.”

Jade will now go on to compete in the battle round.
