Sheffield quartet and Castleton duo among the honours at music awards

Sheffield’s Arctic Monkeys secured top honours at the NME Awards this week.

The High Green quartet – singer Alex Turner, guitarist Jamie Cook, bassist Nick O’Malley and drummer Matt Helders – won best British band, best live band, best album for new release AM and best fan community, while Alex – pictured accepting the best live band title – was named hero of the year. Grunge duo Drenge – brothers Eoin and Rory Loveless, from Castleton, Derbyshire, who play Sheffield’s Plug tomorrow, were named best new band.
