Call centre staff from one of Sheffield’s biggest employers showed their musical magnificence when they got together for a charity event.

Workers held the Sky Sheffield’s Got Talent contest at Genting Casino in the city centre, raising £1,500 for the Royal Marines Benevolent Fund.

Guitarist Ted Tomen, from Eckington, was the winner of the talent contest, in which singers, musicians, dance troupes and a magician battled it out against each other.

Sky raised money for the fund through tickets sales to the event and a raffle, with prizes including two tickets to see Alicia Keys.

Laura Oades, charity events organiser at Sky Sheffield, said: “It was a huge success.”

Former soldier and Sheffield-based professional boxer Ross Burkinshaw, a 26-year-old bantamweight fighter, who received the cheque on behalf of the fund, said: “Such a large amount was raised for a worthy cause.”
