A RADIO station is appealing for the people of South Yorkshire to share their memories of Beatlemania.

BBC Radio Sheffield wants to hear from residents who were there when Fab Four fever swept the UK in the 1960s.

Memories from the public will be used to put together a special programme marking five decades since the release of the Beatles’ first top 20 single.

A BBC spokesman said: “Did you hear the Beatles play live in their early days? Did you see Paul McCartney out and about, or perhaps you served the fresh-faced young Scousers in a pub or shop or gave them a lift in a taxi?

“Whatever your Beatles story we want to hear it.”
