Open Mic UK is coming to Sheffield – on the hunt for the country’s next big singing superstar.
The unsigned singing competition is seeking soloists, duos, vocal groups and rappers to step into the limelight and show what they’ve got.
Miche Pears, promotions officer, said: “We want to see what Sheffield has to offer – and they haven’t let us down yet.
“Last year we had more than 9,000 entrants and this year we’re expecting that to climb to about 12,000 with a pool of incredible industry prizes worth £50,000.”
Auditions will be held at Sheffield City Hall on Sunday, September 1, from 9.30am.
Regional winners from around the country will go on to perform at the national final at The O2 in London later this year, in front of a panel of music, entertainment industry and celebrity judges.
Miche said: “Open Mic UK prides itself on taking its live shows to prestigious venues.”
Sheffield’s X Factor star Lucy Spraggan, runner-up at Open Mic UK in 2011, said of the competition: “I was so excited heading to the final at the O2.
“When we got to the venue the atmosphere was electric.”
