THOUSANDS of people packed out Sheffield’s Motorpoint Arena as rap royalty arrived in the city.

Clad in black and dripping in bling, Jay-Z and Kanye West lived up to their superstar personas as they entertained crowds at the venue.

The pair - otherwise known as Mr Beyonce and Mr Kim Kardashian - were in the Steel City to perform the penultimate gig in the UK leg of their Watch the Throne tour.

While there were still a few empty seats and standing room at the venue, it still proved the hottest ticket in town as the rappers took to the stage in a blaze of show-stopping pyrotechnics.

‘Sheffield, you are now rocking with the best in the world,’ Jay repeated throughout the evening.

The two-hour show saw a mixture of solo and duet performances.

Better-known songs from their back catalogues, such as Goldigger and Empire State of Mind, had the audience on their feet and the finale came with songs from the Watch the Throne album.
