CANADIAN rockers Nickelback are the Robbie Savage of the music industry. The four-piece band, like the former Welsh international footballer turned media pundit, are not universally popular. Think Marmite; you either love or hate them.

As part of their Here & Now European tour, Nickelback, consisting of singer and guitarist Chad Kroeger, guitarist and back-up vocalist Ryan Peake, bassist Mike Kroeger and drummer Daniel Adair, returned to these shores for the first time in two and a half years.

But before the main course, support act Daughtry whetted the appetite of a 12,000 strong crowd, putting on a 45 minute set brimming with energy, vigour and passion.

Then Nickelback entered the arena to a rapturous ovation and did not disappoint. Bottoms Up off their most recent album went down a storm and so did pop/rock tracks Photograph, Someday and Lullaby.

When We Stand Together featured a breathtaking drum solo from Adair which brought the house down before they ended their set with stadium anthem How Your Remind Me.

Vocally frontman Chad impressed but his jokes between songs left a lot to be desired.
