Headlining the Doncaster Blues Rhythm & Rock Festival on Sunday are Dutch progressive rock band Focus.

The quartet were first founded by organist and flautist Thijs van Leer 46 years ago and have gone through a string of line-ups and hits ever since –including UK top-20 hits Hocus Pocus and Sylvia, in 1973.

Last year, they released their eleventh studio album, Golden Oldies, a collection of re-recordings of some of their most famous songs.

Thijs, aged 66, says: “Producing ‘Golden Oldies’ was tricky.

“Both the die hard Fans and the 2014 Focus-members were having doubts about the enterprise, because we didn’t know if the recent recordings would match the original material,

“Notwithstanding the fact we had so much fun in doing the session, quick, romantic, virtuoso, full of funny moments and profoundness, the final mix turns out to be fantastic and we all are proud to release the album.”

Doors open for the festival at 1.30pm, with the first act, the Luke Doherty Band, on stage from 2pm to 2.50pm.

Next up is Avit Blues Band at 3.05pm, followed by Mark Pontin Group at 4.10pm.

Little Devils are due on stage at 5.25pm, with Aynsley Lister at 6.45pm and Focus due on stage from 8.30pm until the festival ends at 10pm.
