Acoustic Strawbs, The Greystones
The Strawbs are one of the better British progressive bands of the early ’70s.
They differed from others of the genre because their characteristic sound originated in English folk music, rather than rock.
Acoustic Strawbs play classic Strawbs songs with the integrity and musicianship for which the band has been always been recognised. Forty years after their Top Of The Pops years the sound of the Acoustic Strawbs has mellowed but they still know how to entertain.
With original singer Dave Cousins knocking out the numbers they run through the band’s history with a story for every song.
The band were a huge hit at the Greystones last year, playing all the songs their fans want to hear, and they give a fascinating insight into the origin of their most famous songs.
The Acoustic Strawbs are to appear at the Greystones tomorrow, Wednesday, June 4, at 8pm. Tickets £12.
