POP superstar Jason Derulo has broken his neck trying out an acrobatic dance move and been forced to canel his world tour - including a date at Sheffield Motorpoint Arena, writes Graham Walker.
The 22-year-old It Girl crooner, who landed on his head and suffered an ‘acute fracture to his vertebra’, was told by doctors the horrific accident could have left him paralysed.
But he must wear a neck brace for the next few months after being discharged from the Memorial West Hospital in Miami’s Pembroke Pines, Florida.
The multi-platinum singer and songwriter, who was training for his upcoming World Tour in support of his current album Future History, has had to cancel all touring and promotional activities.
He was to perform in Sheffield on Saturday, February 25.
Other venues included Birmingham, Sheffield, Cardiff and London. There is currently no information about rescheduled dates and fans are being told to return their tickets to the point of purchase for a full refund.
Miami star Derulo said today said: “To all my fans who planned to come to the Future History World tour, the pain of letting you down cuts me way deeper than this injury I’ve sustained.
“My fans mean everything to me, so I’m praying for a speedy recovery in order to perform for you in the near future.”
He has been joking about his neck brace on Twitter, where he posted a photo of himself lying in bed.
“I fractured my neck doing tumbling & acrobatics 4 tour! Always tryin 2 push boundaries 4 YOU! Like my new chain?,” he wrote.
