IT’S the decade that many love to hate – but you can bet your left ear you’ll know most of what Pop Goes The ’80s has to offer.
The show, at Rotherham’s Civic Theatre tomorrow, has host Max Power taking the audience on a musical journey back to the decade of legwarmers and mullets.
The hit list includes songs from pop idols Madonna, Michael Jackson, Duran Duran, Bananarama, Spandau Ballet, Adam Ant, Cyndi Lauper, Madness, Bon Jovi and Wham! – brought to colourful life by a cast of singers, dancers and musicians from London’s West End.
Gold, Girls Just Wanna Have Fun, Stand And Deliver, 99 Red Balloons, Rio, Livin’ On A Prayer, Hey Mickey and Thriller feature alongside a strong lights and laser show, a giant video wall and plenty of lavish costumes to reflect a decade that saw the birth of electro-pop, the age of soft rock and the flamboyance of the new romantics.
Tickets cost £15 from 01709 823621, the Central Library and Arts Centre box office, or via rotherham.gov.uk/theatres
