THE name is Pashley... Paul Pashley - and the Sheffield big band singer has been licensed to thrill by James Bond car makers Aston Martin.
Paul was in oh, oh heaven when he got the secret mission to sing at the invitation-only Yorkshire launch of new supercar, the One-77.
It costs a cool £1.2 million.
But Paul isn’t shaken or stirred by the price - in fact, he’s stepping up a gear to hit the big time, with major record deal plans which could see him at the wheel of one.
Rock superstar Bryan Adams and Take That’s X Factor judge Gary Barlow, along with Sheffield Grammy award-winner Eliot Kennedy - the X Factor’s new producer for talent development - have already written new songs he’s recorded.
And unlike the private car launch - at the Brooklands Aston Martin dealers in Lower Wortley, Leeds - he will be showcasing the new material, along with his own swing band take on rock and pop hits, plus swing standards, at a charity event tomorrow night at Sheffield’s Lyceum Theatre.
Paul, with his 17-piece big band and special guests, is supporting plans to expand Amy’s House, the Sheffield respite facility for children with special needs.
He said: “The Aston Martin launch was a great gig. What a car. But I can’t wait to showcase our new material and for such a worthy cause.”
Paul’s special guest is Doncaster 19-year-old Katy Bullock, another new find from Eliot Kennedy’s Steelworks stable.
Promoted by LGI Enterprises, the Amy’s House fundraising concert is sponsored by Irwin Mitchell Solicitors and MCA.
Tickets, now limited, are £20. Call 0114 249 6000, or log on to sheffieldtheatres.co.uk or arenaticketshop.co.uk
