SHEFFIELD’S In Fear Of Olive approach summer festivals with glowing endorsements for their first EP.
All We Can Do Is Wonder is the first output since the young quartet were brought to the attention of the management team behind the reformation of post-punk legends Magazine.
They’ve been recording with renowned folk/roots producer Keith Angel (Kate Rusby, Martin Simpson) honing 20 songs of depth and soul that belies their age.
“When we first got them in the studio playing through a song to set the levels I had to look through the control room window to convince myself it was a bunch of 21-year olds,” he says.
In Fear Of Olive began as a guitar-led trio, comprising Jake Cope, France Lahmar and Paul Burdett with influences as diverse as Johnny Cash to Bright Eyes and Bob Dylan.
Less English folk, more American roots-inspired, the sound evolved when multi-instrumentalist Arv Teeroovengadum joined last June.
The four-track EP is out on CD/download (with extra track) on June 13.
