An iconic musical adventure is coming to the University of Sheffield next month.
Gentleman Prefer Blondes forms part of the Sheffield University’s concert series this winter, telling the tale of zany chorus girl Lorelei Lee.
Concert director Stewart Campbell said: “Following the success of Goldilocks, the Department of Music is presenting another classic Broadway musical in concert.
“Gentlemen Prefer Blondes revolves around the unforgettable Lorelei, a role made famous on Broadway by Carol Channing in 1949 and on screen by Marilyn Monroe in 1953.
“Set in the Roaring Twenties, it chronicles the madcap antics of this fun-loving and hedonistic gold-digger and her sail aboard the ‘Ile de France’ to Paris with her chum Dorothy Shaw.”
The rarely performed musical will be performed entirely by the University of Sheffield’s music students at the university’s Firth Hall on Monday, December 2, and Tuesday, December 3.
