Kat Eaton, The Greystones
The distinctive vocalist who fronted the Sheffield band Feelix is now setting out on a career as a solo artist.
She is launching her debut single, Alien, at her gig on Thursday.
Kat said: “I am really excited about this single.
“I have been working with a new producer, Craig Wainwright, and the track is sounding awesome and quite different to what I have done in the past.”
Having always broached the personal within her songwriting, Kat says that her change in direction does not mean Alien is any the less real.
She added: “The song is about struggling to understand someone and being afraid to lose them.
“It applies to more than one situation in my life, which why I felt compelled to write this song.”
She is already heavily in demand as a songwriter and 2013 has marked writing collaborations with X Factor’s Craig Colton and The Voice’s Vince Freeman for their upcoming albums.
With Feelix, she had already built up a good reputation on the live circuit following support slots for Nell Bryden, Teitur, Honey Ryder, Sandi Thom and Lilygreen and Maguire.
Kat’s voice has already drawn comparisons with some of the music world’s most playful vocalists from KT Tunstall to Ingrid Michaelson.
The single will be officially launched at The Greystones and Kat is also currently rehearsing to undertake a mini September tour to launch Alien.
Doors open at 8pm at the Greystones Road pub and entry costs £6.
