A talented group of young musicians and performers are blowing their own trumpet and urging new members to join their marching band.

Concord AllStars – the junior marching band section of Concord Youth Music – are celebrating their 30th anniversary.

The AllStars, fielding 20 brass, 20 percussion and eight dancers, were runners-up in the Drum Corps UK National Championships this year – just 1.3 points behind the champions _ and are aiming to go one next summer.

Director Roger Steele said: “First and foremost, it is great fun.

“The kids enjoy themselves because they get to perform and travel around the country.”

The band offers instruction and opportunities to youngsters aged eight to 13 to play brass and percussion and march and dance in public performances.

No experience is needed and all instruments and equipment are free to use.

Keen musicians are invited to attend any of the group’s Saturday rehearsals from 10am to 12noon at Croft House Settlement, Garden Street, Sheffield.
