The Original Rudeboys are calling into Sheffield tonight, Monday, on their first headline UK tour.

Having just completed a European and UK tour as special guests to fellow Irish hitmakers The Script, including their date at the Motorpoint Arena in Sheffield, The Original Rudeboys have now performed to over 150,000 people. The band only formed in March 2011 .

The Script were so impressed by the Rudeboys that they also asked them to guest on their Australian tour dates.

Their gentle blend of acoustic indie music and hip hop captured public attention ever since the song that became their first single, Stars in My Eyes, caught on with thousands of viewers when it was posted on YouTube.

Not many bands combine rapping with ukulele, giving the three lads from the north of Dublin a unique appeal.

One story has it that they didn’t intend to become a band but just sat down to write a song together after joking about it while having a drink.

They took their name from the slogan on a T-shirt one of them was wearing.

The Original Rudeboys’ debut album This Life has been certified gold in Ireland.

This Life, which was produced by Jake Gosling, who works with Ed Sheeran and Paloma Faith, was released in March 2012, charting at number three.

It has been a permanent fixture on the Irish album charts ever since.

The Original Rudeboys have also performed as special guests to Cheryl Cole in Dublin and Belfast and have played sold-out shows with Professor Green, Maverick Sabre, Example and Rizzle Kicks.
