HALLAM FM hit the right notes when it tuned in to help celebrate the homecoming of Sheffield’s Olympic champion Jessica Ennis - it changed its name to Ennis FM and presented her with this unique radio.
Gold plated and branded with a union flag, the radio gift was voted for by Hallam FM listeners as the best ‘congratulations present’ to give her, explained a spokewoman.
It was handed over at a civic reception inside Sheffield City Hall ballroom, after 20,000 people turned up to greet her on a stage outside, in Barker’s Pool.
“We transformed Hallam FM into ‘Ennis FM’ for the today – including our logo on our website,” explained the radio spokeswoman.
“We also had this very special present to give her...a gold plated, union jack radio, which was voted for as the best ‘congratulations present’ to give her by our listeners.”
The Star, which is campaigning to have Don Valley Stadium named after her, turned the paper’s masthead gold and presented her with a framed picture montage of her London 2012 golden moments.
