The City Hall will host a big soul night out this Saturday, with three rooms of classic dance-floor favourites.
It’s not quite an all-nighter, running from 9pm to 2am, but there’s plenty of chances to relive the golden days of Northern Soul anyway.
The main room in the ballroom features Northern Soul, Motown and club hits from the 1960s and ’70s.
On the decks are DJs Kev Roberts, Richard Searling, Steve White and Snowy.
The all-nighter room in the North Hall is the place to hear all-time favourites from venues like Wigan Casino, Cleethorpes Winter Gardens, Samantha’s and The Mojo. Famed veteran Northern Soul DJ Ginger Taylor, pictured above, will be joined by Kev Roberts, Nige Brown, Steve Foster and Melvyn Walker.
In the modern room in the South Hall, John Kane, Sean Hampsey, Dave Needham and Tony B will be getting a bit more up to date, and also indulging in a little 1980s boogie.
Dancers can also get in the mood beforehand at the warm-up venue, Maggie May’s on Trippet Lane, which is almost next door to the City Hall.

Keep the faith.
