A FREE day of jazz at a South Yorkshire show will see top musicians performing big band, Western swing and traditional New Orleans style jazz.
Starting tomorrow’s show at Rotherham Jazz Day in the Music Marquee at Rotherham Show will be the Colin Yates Big Band. The 17-strong band has been going for over 30 years, and play in the style of Glenn Miller, Count Basie and Stan Kenton, as well as more modern composers.
Headlining the show is Europe’s number one Western swing band, playing music of the 1930s and 40s.
And ending the afternoon are Rotherham’s own Dave Brennan Jubilee jazz band, celebrating their 50th anniversary of playing lively and authentic New Orleans jazz.
The jazz day takes place as part on Rotherham Show.
A folk concert today will see music from Kasai Masai, Monkey’s Orphan, Ray Hearne, Vivki Swan and Johnny Dyer.
