1. Back to school

Relive your youth with a production of Secret Diaries, which arrives at the Cast theatre this week.

The play is set in the 1980s and, as the Iron Lady stands and Iron Curtain falls, Hayley, her Dad and best friend Debbie struggle to find their way in an ever-changing world.

To build a future, they must unpack their past. Papering over the cracks, uncovering secrets and lies, they find that the hardest box to open, is your own.

Inspired by a true story, Secret Diaries charts the big stuff in life from teenage years to present day. Set to a soundtrack of 80s and 90s guilty pleasures, laugh, love and re-capture your youth with this honest look at the world through teenage eyes.

2. Pop Sensation

One of pop’s biggest names at the moment, Olly Murs, is set to perform in the region twice this week.

Since being chosen as the runner-up of The X Factor in 2009, Olly Murs, has Olly Murs has released three multi-platinum selling albums to date, which have included four Number 1 singles.

People attending the show can also expect to hear songs from his latest album, ‘Never Been Better’ including Let Me In written with Paul Weller, Up featuring Demi Lovato, and the Ryan Tedder track Seasons.

3. Comedy caper

A brilliant new musical production of The Addams Family is set to entertain audiences in the region this week.

Wednesday Addams, the ultimate princess of darkness, has fallen in love with a sweet, smart, young man from a respectable family. She begs her father, Gomez, to keep this a secret from her mother, Morticia.

Then, with a little ‘help’ from the rest of the endearingly quirky Addams Family, they attempt to host a dinner for Wednesday’s ‘normal’ boyfriend and his parents.

4. Folksy delight

Double BBC Radio 2 Folk Award nominees Josienne Clarke and Ben Walker are set to take to the stage in Barnsley this weekend.

Their live performance is a thing of delight - enchanted reviewers have spoken of ‘shimmering cathedrals of sound’ - and its purity will stay with you long after the last note fades.

5. Laugh riot

Scottish comic Kevin Bridges will bring his latest tour to the region this week.

In his latest show, Kevin reveals his innermost thoughts on a variety of topics, from his home-land Scotland and beyond.
