Members of a north Derbyshire brass band are tuning up ahead of the British Championship finals.
Dronfield Genquip Band have reached the third section finals of the National Brass Band Championships of Great Britain for the third time in five years, after winning the Yorkshire regional championships earlier this year.
The musicians are now busy practising ahead of the finals in Cheltenham, Gloucestershire, next month.
Each of the 20 third section finalists, from across England, Scotland and Wales, will perform Penlee, a piece written by Simon Dobson to commemorate a lifeboat disaster near his hometown in Cornwall in 1981, when 16 people died, including all eight crew members of the Penlee Lifeboat.
John Davis, Dronfield Genquip Band musical director, said: “The key demand for the band is to portray the action and atmosphere of the tragic events that took place on that stormy day in December 1981.”
