Billy Walton Band, The Trades, Rotherham
This band, who are all the way from the famous Asbury Park, New Jersey in the USA, will be joined by special guests from the East Street Band, the UK’s number one Springsteen tribute band.
Greetings from Asbury Park, N.J. was the name of Bruce Springsteen’s seminal debut studio album, released 40 years ago.
Billy Walton is a former guitarist with the legendary group Southside Johnny and the Asbury Jukes, part of the same Jersey Shore sound as Springsteen. Band members have collaborated extensively together.
Billy has also recorded with Little Steven and jammed with Jon Bon Jovi, ans well as sitting with with Gary U.S. Bonds and Stevie Ray Vaughan’s backing band, Double Trouble.
The Billy Walton Band’s sound is a combination of hard, funky blues reminiscent of
Hendrix, Clapton and Vaughan, mixed with a healthy dose of the sounds of Asbury Park.
The rest of the line-up are bassist William Paris, Sean Marks on sax, Ian Gray on trombone and drummer Johnny D’Angelo.
Steve Gascoigne of the East Street Band, based in Rotherham and Sheffield, said: “You can expect an evening of blistering rock, blues and soul with that special Asbury secret ingredient.
“The band will play their regular set with a few added extras and be joined at various points by the East Street Band for the classic Asbury-style jam.”
Admission is £8 and doors open at 8pm on Tuesday night.
The venue is on Greasborough Road and has excellent bus and rail links.
