Thousands of pounds were raised by members of a North Derbyshire brass band for children suffering from leukaemia.

Dronfield Brass Band held its annual charity dinner dance at the Double Tree by Hilton Sheffield Park Hotel in Norton.

Revellers enjoyed a four-course dinner and dancing followed by a raffle and auction – and they raised £3,100 for Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research.

Adrian Wood, band chairman, said: “It’s always a really enjoyable evening with great food and great company, not to mention the funds we raise which go to so many worthy causes.”

The charity ball has become a regular fixture on the band’s calendar since it joined forces with Killamarsh Silver Band to make the Community Band.

n The Dronfield Genquip Band will be playing a concert at Dronfield Civic Hall this Saturday, at 7pm.
