If your kind of music is Frank Sinatra, Judy Garland and Peggy Lee singing the Cole Porter songbook then you are going to love The John Wilson Orchestra tonight (Sat, Nov 22) at Sheffield City Hall, writes Graham Walker.
The 42-year-old Brit conductor and arranger became a household name in recent years conducting BBC Proms concerts celebrating film scores and musicals.
Now comes new Warner Classics album, Cole Porter In Hollywood, marking the 50th anniversary of the songwriter’s death.
It is also the name of their UK tour, featuring I’ve Got You Under My Skin, Night & Day and Let’s Do It, as well as numbers from movies including Anything Goes, High Society and Can-Can.
Special guests are Anna-Jane Casey, Matt Ford, Richard Morrison and Scarlett Strallen
It plays the City Hall on Saturday, November 22, 7pm.
