Relatively new to our shores, Spain’s most popular white from Rias Baixas has its fans labelling it the new Sauvignon Blanc or Pinot Grigio.

Minerally and pale, Albarino is Galicia’s star grape so in demand from wine lovers thirsting for the next big thing.

Versatile with bright acidity and freshness, peach and citrus notes, Albarino is perfect with seafood.

This one is is not cheap (Asda has Vina Ludy Albarino 2010 at £6.80) but is a good example of this style of wine with its distinctive aroma, fruit flavours and crisp finish.
