When it comes to takeaways freshness in the ingredients can sometimes be lacking. So to have your food cooked in front of you from scratch – the USP of Wok This Way in Walkley – is a novelty in the extreme.
However, when we visited the place was deserted, with no sign of whether it was simply a night off or the business had moved.
So it fell to Wok This Way in Ranmoor – same name, different owners – to satisfy our takeaway requirements.
We started with duck and pancakes; a large piece of crispy meat. Chilli beef and satay sauce was satisfyingly spicy, but our order of king prawns and cashew nuts arrived as bland chicken instead.
Fluffy special fried rice rounded off an above-average takeaway – but we missed the while-you-wait cookery display.
