A healthier takeaway? Sounds too good to be true.

But new outlet Spicy Chik on West Street promises to provide fresh, almost guilt-free grub, and in bikini diet season that’s tempting.

It took almost an hour for the food to arrive, but my barbecue chicken was worth it.

The thin slices of breast meat were coated in sticky sauce, served with fresh salad and non-greasy wedges. Nice big portion too.

It would have been rude not to try the little one’s mini fillets. The batter was peppery, thick and spicy, better than a KFC.

Due to crossed wires, the other half’s mixed kebab ended up being a Steel Spice chicken option, which he found disappointing, with an odd taste we couldn’t quite place.

Curly and normal fries were excellent, and staff promised us £10 off next time for the mix up. Total cost £15.25
