There are so many Indian restaurants and takeaways in Sheffield it is hard to know which ones are best.
Everybody has their old favourites but when you fancy something a bit different how do you pick?
We made an unusual decision when heading home hungry last week. We stopped at the first Indian takeaway we came to - with easy parking nearby!
Now its probably not the best way to find delectable food but as luck would have it, we struck gold.
Just getting a parking space on London Road without the threat of a fine is lucky enough these days but the food was also great.
First impressions of Radhuni were good.
Staff were helpful and polite, the restaurant looked smart and the smells wafting from the kitchen were tempting.
It was quiet, being a Thursday evening, but the couples already there were clearly enjoying good food.
Our order took 20 minutes and when we got it home we knew we’d had made a good choice.
The first dish we had opted for was chicken sag, cooked with spinach and medium spices.
Well presented with fresh herbs sprinkled on top, it didn’t disappoint.
The lamb madras still managed to delight the tastebuds while being hot enough to keep the family’s chilli lover happy.
There were also large slices of fresh chilli nestling in the sauce - which all ended up on one plate, thus pleasing us all!
We decided not to go overboard on hot dishes so also opted for a prawn kurma. Unlike at some places, you could clearly taste the fresh ingredients of coconut, almonds and fresh cream and the combination was a winner.
The garlic nan bread was big but went down a treat as everyone tucked in.
All the portions were ample which was a good thing since there were differences of opinion about which was the best.
In the end we’d all picked very standard dishes but there are plenty of others for the more adventurous including dinners made from fillets of Indian freshwater fish.
It may have been a venue picked at random, but now we know it we will definitely be back.
