LONDON Road is Sheffield’s takeaway mecca, a half-mile stretch of brightly lit restaurants where any hungry punter is spoiled for choice.
There are at least a dozen kebab shops, a plethora of Chinese noodle bars and some of the best high-end Turkish restaurants in the city.
But my favourite is a cosy little Vietnamese cafe next door to The Cremorne pub.
Over the last three or four years Pho 68 has established a reputation for delicious fresh flavours, excellent service and decent prices.
But what few people know is they do delivery as well.
Call up after 6pm any day of the week and within the hour a polite man will be at your door with a steaming bag of goodies and a free bottle of coke (or cheap wine, if you spend over £30).
The Chinese and Thai dishes on the menu are fairly run-of-the-mill, but if you stick to the Vietnamese specialities you will be blown away.
The delicious barbecued pork is flavoured with lemongrass and comes with roasted peanuts and vermicelli.
Crunchy, crispy fried chicken is smothered in a delicious mix of roasted sesame and garlic.
And the Vietnamese spring rolls are stunning – much fresher and lighter than those you get in a Chinese restaurant.
The vegetarian version is even better than the standard one.
Oddly, the takeaway menu does not feature any pho, the huge bowls of noodle soup after which the restaurant is named.
But if you put in the request the staff are happy to produce pho for delivery anyway.
The fragrant spicy broth comes in polystyrene pots, which you then pour over the separate beef, chicken or vegetables and fine noodles.
And there is always enough for lunch the next day.
