“We ordered at 8.30pm,” reads the first customer review on the website of New Wongs Kitchen, in Manor Lane. “We were told the food would be 45 minutes. We did not receive it til 9.50...the service was awful.”
When it comes to honesty, publishing a verdict like that on your own internet page takes some beating.
As it goes, though, our delivery arrives five minutes early.
The food is piping hot, and the bearer all smiles.
And it’s good. We get a couple of starters – salt and peppered chicken, and mini vegetable spring rolls – to warm us up for chicken with cashew nuts and beef in black pepper sauce. Prawn crackers are free with the meal.
There are enough vegetables across the colourful dishes to give this a very healthy feel, while the chunks of meat are drenched with taste.
The beef, seemingly cooked in chillies, has a kick like a mule.
Well worth a visit – whatever the website reviews might say.
