SOMETIMES you’re in need of an old friend.
It’s been a couple of years since last we called at the KPC Tandoori – and I was soon reminded that it had been a couple of years too long.
On arrival I found the place to be much as I had left it.
It’s no palace, not even a bit swanky, but it’s clean.
And what it lacks in decor it more than makes up for in the quality of food and service.
As takeaways go this place was, and still is, as good as it gets.
The KPC still reigns as king of kebabs with Sheffield’s largest - the belly busting and extremely tasty Big T.
And it’s also a champion of curries with dishes at the KPC tasting as good as any you’ll get at a sit down restaurant.
We, that’s the three of us, started with a mixed kebab at £2.99, three dustbin lid sized but oh so crisp and light popadoms at 39p apiece and a mixed pickle tray at £1.99.
It came with crunchy fresh salad provided a riot of flavours.
We followed this up with a subtly spiced chicken balti at £5.49 accompanied by a light a fluffy portion of pilau rice at £1.49. Throw in a couple of chapattis at 49p and it made up a true feast.
Top snap indeed.
And, as usual, there was more than enough for the three of us.
Much to the delight of the dog who polished off the left-overs.
