TAKEAWAY Test is a dirty job but somebody has to do it.
As it was my turn, my lodger and I found ourselves tucking into a curry on a Tuesday night. Very decadent.
Very good it was, too.
No interesting-looking menus had dropped on my doormat recently, so we went online to Just Eat and found the Inteha Indian Takeaway has had the great idea of offering a staff curry on its list of specials.
What you get for £6 is whatever the staff are eating that night.
The specials list could turn up a few more gems as it also offers chicken or lamb mossomon, to the chef’s secret recipe, a home-style Bengali desi curry and a noodle dish.
The menu covers all the usual favourites and burgers for non-curry lovers.
Nothing out of the ordinary on the starters, so we went for a quarter tandoorichicken and king prawn butterfly.
As well as the staff curry, we had Ruth’s favourite chicken korma plus pilau rice and a cheese naan.
The food arrived within half an hour.
The tandoori chicken was good in taste but the meat was very slightly dry.
Ruth really enjoyed the two large prawns, covered in a flavoured batter, that she said tasted good and tangy.
The staff curry was great: tandoori chicken on the bone (juicy this time) and generous chunks of potato in a tasty, medium hot tomato-based sauce.
The korma was a cut above the usual, with large chunks of meat in the sweet, coconut milk-flavoured sauce which had an interesting mix of spices.
Pilau rice was good and the naan bread was thick and very tender.
An enjoyable midweek treat and they’re offering 20 per cent off online if you spend more than £15.
