You certainly can’t fault Cafe Masala’s honesty.
The Indian take-away in Walkley has a section on its website for reviews; the first of which gives the eatery two out of five stars and notes the delivery arrived half an hour after the quoted time. Another simply states: “chicken and naan was very dry”.
Still, the proof is in the poppadoms, as they probably don’t say in Delhi. Either way, the proof certainly wasn’t in Cafe Masala’s poppadoms. They were stale and the pickle tray was poor. The mixed kebab starter improved things by being average. The mains were better. She had a lamb balti and I had a lamb karahi, and both were stuffed to the gills with meat and enough vegetables - onions, pepper and tomato - to probably count as two of your five a day.
The delivery time by the way? Half an hour after the quoted time.
It came to £22.85.
