The word ‘tiffin’ always conjures up images of Empire, gin and tonics at sundown and light afternoon snacks, but the meals on offer at this Indian takeaway in Nether Green are far more substantial.
After a lengthy wait of more than an hour – you do pay the price for delivery sometimes, unfortunately – our food arrived, hot and plentiful.
We started with onion bhajis – huge, crisp creations, and two each, surprisingly – followed by a chicken achari, a fairly hot dish flavoured with pickles.
We also tried a somewhat milder Kashmiri lamb bhuna, filled with tender pieces of lamb and caramelised onions. Egg rice, garlic naan and a side dish of saag paneer brought the bill to a reasonable £24.65.
