A Sheffield restaurant has created a cool new cocktail to celebrate National Cucumber Day!

Mixologists at the 1855 Bar and Restaurant in the city centre have developed the special limited edition Cucumber Cooler drink in honour of the annual awareness day.

It combines cucumber, melon, lime juice, elderflower liqueur, bison grass vodka and ice.

This year, the sixth National Cucumber Day will take place on Monday 15 June in celebration of the popular green fruit.

Katarina Csizmadiova, food and beverage manager at the 1855 Bar and Restaurant, said: “Our cocktails are hugely popular and we are always looking at developing new and innovative recipes to meet our customers’ expectations and we’re really excited about creating Cucumber Cooler for National Cucumber Day.

“Cucumber is a really versatile fruit which comes from the same family as squash, watermelon and courgette. It has many health benefits - it’s a great source of potassium and essential vitamins and restores water to the body, which is good for your skin and eyes too.

“With cucumber and melon, combined with lime juice, elderflower liqueur, bison grass vodka and ice, the cocktail is really fresh, clean and perfect for the summer.”
