AN INDIAN restaurant missed out on a top honour at a national awards ceremony.

Bawtry’s Dower House restaurant was bidding to take top spot in the best restaurant in the north east of England category at the British Curry Awards, held in London earlier this week.

The glittering black tie dinner was attended by celebrities including TV presenter Sir Terry Wogan, comic Rory Bremner and UKIP leader Nigel Farage.

They saw the Leeds-branch of Aagrah, which also has a restaurant in Great North Road, Woodlands, clinch top spot.
