THE cakes are on Yorkshire today at one Doncaster town centre venue!
Yorkshire Day celebrations will be extending to food and drink at the borough’s tourist information centre.
Staff at Doncaster Council’s centre at the Blue Building will be dishing out teas and cakes over a three hour period.
Between 11am and 2pm there will be free treats for visitors, donated by Doncaster-based bakers Cooplands, and Betty’s of Harrogate.
There will be a raffle in aid of the Aurora Centre for cancer patients and the Doncaster and District Kidney Association Raffle prizes include tickets to the Yorkshire Wildlife Park and the pantomime at Doncaster’s Civic Theatre.
Mayor of Doncaster Peter Davies encouraged everyone to get into the spirit of the day.
He said: “I believe Doncaster is the finest town in this great county. There is no better place to celebrate Yorkshire Day. Make sure you pop into the tourist information centre and help support some good causes.”
All the cakes provided at the event will be Yorkshire themed.
