Forget worrying about which wine to choose for dinner... City Brew Boffin Alex Barlow is showing foodies how to team beer with their favourite dishes.
A diverse selection of craft ale is being teamed with a £40 four-course menu at Inox Dine on Friday. Each course, along with its paired beer, will be introduced by Alex, who is curator and lecturer on the University of Sheffield’s MSc in Brewing and the UK Beer Academy’s Chief Examiner.
Commented Alex: “Beer is the best, most versatile and interesting drink in the world, and it’s a wonderful match for food.”
Joe Berry, head chef at the fine dining restaurant on Level 5 of the Student’s Union Building on Durham Road, has selected salmon, Yorkshire venison, rhubarb and Yorkshire cheeses for the menu.
